About me
Stef Tepper is an HCPC registered music therapist, performer, teacher and workshop leader based in Woking, Surrey. With over 15 years of teaching, coaching and performing experience, Stef works regularly with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Mozartists (a virtuosic classical opera and period-instrument ensemble), as well as established charities such as Jessie’s Fund and the Amber Trust.
Stef qualified as a music therapist from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2023 completing the course with a distinction. Since then she has been invited to join the Guildhall music therapy course as an instrumental staff member and supports music therapy students as a placement supervisor.
Stef is part of the therapy team at Clap and Toot, a music therapy company specialising in providing support for children and young people who have been adopted, fostered or who are under legal guardianship. Alongside this, Stef has worked as a music therapist for Linden Lodge, a specialist multi-sensory impairment college where she has supported children and young people with both visual and auditory impairments. Stef has a keen interest in working with people with complex needs including those with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). She has experienced first hand how music can enhance the quality of a person’s relationships to those around them, support self-expression and choice-making and provide opportunities for meaningful and enjoyable musical experiences,
Stef is passionate about making music accessible to everyone believing that everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the joy, connection and sense of belonging that music can bring. Alongside her clinical work, she regularly works with leading arts organisations and charities that share this vision. As part of the London Symphony Orchestra's Discovery programme, Stef helps deliver creative music projects for children at the Royal London Hospital and in specialist education settings, bringing high-quality musical experiences to children who may not otherwise have access to them. Her work with Jessie's Fund involves delivering creative workshops in specialist schools across the UK and providing training for school staff to help them embed music into everyday school life.
As a performer, Stef has enjoyed playing with some of the country’s leading orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Halle, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Welsh National Opera and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. She regularly performs with her flute and harp duo and recently completed a recital series in which the duo performed a newly commissioned work for the ensemble.
