Teaching

Stephanie introduced me to the flute and gave me over 4 years of lessons and encouragement. She helped me to grow my confidence, not only in a musical sense, and I found myself constantly looking forward to my lessons each week as well as practicing out of a genuine love for the instrument that she inspired in me. I was so sad to have to stop my lessons due to school but still play the flute and miss both my lessons and my teacher! - Ellie, flute student

I started learning the flute as an adult with no previous experience, initially just wanting to play for the fun and without the pressure of exams. With Stef’s knowledge and guidance, I grew to enjoy music even more and decided to challenge myself further. Since then, I’ve joined local bands, completed exams and taken part in ensemble playing. I credit Stef with inspiring me to want to learn more. Our wonderful lessons were always my favourite time of the week. - Sarah, flute student

Stephanie has been an amazing inspiration to Anna and helped her sail through grade 8. Lots of fun, but also professional, couldn’t have asked for a nicer teacher’. - Rachel, parent of a flute student

Stephanie is a brilliant teacher and guide to my girls.  She’s currently encouraging the older one through Grade 5, with a good mixture of fun, positive encouragement - and stronger reinforcement when scales aren’t practised!  The children clearly make swift progress with her and look forward to their weekly lesson.  She moves at their pace, including repertoire they know and like whilst also expanding their wider musical understanding.  Her beaming smile when the girls have clearly worked hard - and stickers to keep younger ones engaged - keep them motivated and happy.  Victoria, parent of two flute playing sisters

Music Therapy and SEN work

Stef created such a calm and welcoming space for our family. Through music, she helped us find new ways to communicate and connect with our child, and we've continued using many of the ideas at home - Parent of a music therapy client

The music experience we participated in from Stef was brilliant. She met the pupils on their level where they were at, pupils engaged so well with the music and we got to see new sides to pupils that we haven't seen yet and evidence/progress towards their EHCP targets without you even knowing it. The whole class remained engaged sitting/rocking/spinning/dancing/playing within the circle for an extended period of time which they hadn't before managed, or I wouldn't have ever dreamed (a whole hour!) - Ellen, SEN class teacher

It was incredible, Elephant class loved beginning their day with music, alerting our bodies and minds for the day ahead. Even for our pupils who struggle with noises and singing, Stef found ways to work with staff and adapt for this pupil. It was also great for staff CPD to find ways to use music to support pupils learning and EHCP targets (communication and interaction). We also have a few musically naturally talented pupils too whom it was nice to expand on this for them and also give chance for all pupils to receive music therapy not just as a 1:1 intervention - Kirsty, SEN class teacher
