Music Lessons with Stef

It is a privilege to be able to pass on the skills I have learnt over many years. As a qualified music therapist, I bring a unique perspective to my teaching. My pedagogical philosophy is centred around creativity and the understanding that each student learns in an individual way. Lessons are bespoke to each pupil — this may include rhythmical song narratives, 'out of the box' technical practice, expressive mood scales, engaging tone warm-ups, and improvisation. Music is a great story-teller and over the years I’ve co-created many magical stories with pupils based on the piece of music we’re learning. Past adventures have included making mischief at a ball to accompany a Handel ‘minuet’, walking through a bustling street with twirling dances for the Irish jig ‘Off She Goes’ or a winter scene with ice fairies on a frozen lake to accompany the melodic ‘Seahorses’.

Lessons are available in person at my home in Woking, in areas of South West London, or online.
